Employment

One of the future initiatives by Noah’s Ark is to develop an employment program that works. The current system moves an individual with developmental disabilities from a traditional transition program in the public school system, through the Vocation Rehab process and 
ultimately to the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD).  With tens of thousands of people on the waiting list for services through the APD, this system has been a dismal failure with a 85% unemployment rate. 

In the past decades, there has been hundreds of millions of dollars invested in getting individuals with developmental disabilities competitive employment, with dismal results. 

Employment continues to be one of the most frustrating and elusive goals for a person with a developmental disability.
